Back from the Offseason
Don’t call it a comeback… I’ve been here the whole time. Just really, really busy. Sorry about the brief 2.5 month interruption.
It’s odd, probably not coincidental, and just a little sick that I’ve got the itch to blog back just as soon as school started for CreComm this year (which I happily graduated from earlier this year). It is what it is, though. Here lie the ramblings of an older, wiser Mike B.
What’s life like after graduation? Well, for me, it consists of a great job — really enjoying myself there — as well as more time for side projects and things like the gym, and something I haven’t had for 5 years: actual WEEKENDS. Legitimate ones; a novel concept where I can use my time as I wish. I tell ya, they’ve gotta be illegal or something. T00 g00d to be right.
Things are indeed coming up Milhouse as of late, and I’ve got a lot of thoughts about, well, basically everything. American politics to movies to what’s happening locally to my own outrage about fake outrage — there’s a whole lot to explore out there. Will it be cohesive? I hope so. Entertaining? At the very least.
So here’s to getting to the new.
In the meantime, I’m looking for more ways to test my writing skills, with personal screenwriting looking to be my starting point. Haven’t done it in a bit of time, and I’m looking forward to it. Also keeping my eye open for marketing campaign competitions — great way to test both my strategic side and creative side. I won’t lie — marketingmag.ca’s 30 under 30 competition really inspired me and made me think “Can I make this list?”
My self’s answer: Not without a good amount of polish. So I have my work cut out for me, and hopefully I’ll get the chance to exhibit some of that process.
There’s also this blog thing that I’ll be tending to, too.
Like the season premiere of your favourite TV show’s (which is probably Breaking Bad) , I hope I’ve given you something to look forward to in the immediate future. Tune in next week to see if I have a new jive-talking sidekick or something. That would be more useful than it sounds.
Bidding you adieu,
Mike
P.S. — a “BECAUSE IT’S MY BLOG AND I CAN IF I WANT TO” poll:
“Lovefool” by the Cardigans: awful curse or 90’s classic? Let me know in the comments. Watch this before you decide.
You can also watch the original here if you need to be reminded.
